Here is a rare collection of almost all the Kendra Smith albums, singles, and EPs up to 1992. She was, as anyone who is looking here would know, the predecessor to Hope Sandoval in the band that became Mazzy Star.In my opinion she was better... Several of these records I got straight from Kendra herself... Most are quite rare today. 1: Dream Syndicate - self titled first 12 EP on Down There Records 1982.
Cover - slight shelfwear, about VG++. 2: Dream Syndicate - The Days of Wine and Roses on Ruby / Slash 1982 first album. Disc - E with some small surface marks and occasional faint background noise between songs. Cover- VG with some general wear and a light crease at the top right corner. 3: Clay Allison - Fell from the Sun / All Souls 7 single on Serpent Records 1984 - the first Opal record, later included on the Opal Early Recordings LP.There is a big scuff on side one but it doesn't seem to make a sound. Both sides play almost perfectly with only one or two very light ticks. Cover - E: paper folded sleeve in plastic cover. Very flimsy and easily damaged.
This one only has very light wear. 4: Kendra Smith, David Roback, Keith Mitchell - Fell from the Sun 12 EP on Serpent Records 1984. Same two songs as above, with two more: Grains of Sand and Lullabye. They still hadn't settled on the name Opal, but this is Opal. Disc - NM with no visible marks at all.I did hear one or two small isolated pops. Cover - also NM with only the barest signs of any wear. 5: Opal - Northern Line 12 EP on Serpent / One Big Guitar 1985. Flimsy cover that is usually bent at the corners, but this one is not. A little general shelfwear but barely. 6: Opal - Happy Nightmare Baby LP on SST 1987. 7: Opal - Early Recordings LP on Serpent / Rough Trade 1989.
Disc - M- with just a touch of wear, plays beautifully. Cover - VG+ with slight ringwear.
8: Kendra Smith - K. Presents the Guild of Temporal Adventures 10 LP on Fiasco 1992. This was Kendra's long-awaited return, which only got meager release on this very limited 10 record that was then and still is nearly impossible to get. Disc and cover are mint. A fantastic collection of some of the best music from the 80s; a must-have experience for all fans of the Paisley Underground, the Rain Parade, and Mazzy Star. The item "OPAL / KENDRA SMITH / DREAM SYNDICATE Complete Collection of 8 Original Records" is in sale since Saturday, March 28, 2020.
